Locker Room Attendants Are REQUIRED at all levels

Locker Room Attendants Locker room attendants are required per USA Hockey, Minnesota Hockey and District 8 policy. As the manager, you are responsible for having an attendant in the locker room for all practices, scrimmages and games. The following items must be considered per Minnesota Hockey: The locker room attendant must be of the same gender as the team, so make sure you are covered. “Responsible adults” should be of sufficient maturity (an early twenty- something is not mature enough to supervise a bantam locker room). All locker room monitors must be screened in accordance with the MN Hockey Screening Policy. Screening involves no cost to the affiliate. The locker room monitors should be carefully chosen, and understand that their role is strictly supervision of the locker room. The non-coach locker room monitors are not coaches and should not attempt to be such. “All team events” means both games and practices, and monitoring is required whenever players are in the locker room. The staff must come early and stay late. The locker room monitors must be physically in the locker room. One cannot supervise from the hallway. This applies even if other parents are in the locker room to assist a player with his or her equipment. All recording devices should be banned from the locker room, including cell phones and cameras.

Locker Room Attendants At a minimum the locker room monitors’ specific duties should include: Responsibility for locker room security, including allowing only team- authorized persons to enter the room and locking the room when the team is on the ice. Responsibility for the locker room key. Collecting and safeguarding any cell phones or other recording devices brought by players. Being in the locker room at all times when a coach is in the room with a single player. Background checks for Locker Room Attendants are free of charge and can be filled out at http://screening.minnesotahockey.org/. The attendant is required to forward you their "Pass" email from Minnesota Hockey to prove this process was completed. The SafeSport module must be completed by all attendants by 12/31/2016. -- Available online after you complete the screening process. Documentation of this module should be held by the team manager.

Setting up your Season Get a good email list. Get forms in. Watch your game count… 16 District Game Days 3 Tournaments @ 3 Days each = 9 Game Days … Don’t go over.

District Games Team Managers are Responsible for ensuring the games are staffed: Penalty Box Doors Clock Score sheet Remember, if a parent is working a game they are an extension of the referee staff and should act accordingly. Tournament Responsibilities Pre-Check in for the Tournament Roster form. Stay information / lodging T-Shirt orders. Check in for the Tournament. Generally requires an audit of your materials. Generally requires a payment of a gate fee. Generally requires collection of a ton of labels for players and coaches. Know the rules ahead of time. Many tournaments have designated rules that differ from league play. Read them first.

Parents The coaches are responsible for the kids… You are responsible for your team parents. While coaches will get involved, keep the parents inline with their parent code of conduct expectations and take preventative actions to ensure it doesn’t become a problem. Do not be part of a problem. Your goal is to be supportive of the coaches in the stands and in interactions with your team. Coaches and the board have the option to replace managers if we feel this is not being sufficiently managed.

Trading Ice

Your ice schedule is your ice and your responsibility Your ice schedule is your ice and your responsibility. Don’t contact our ice scheduler if you need a change.

Managers Email list Send an email with your ice time, location, ownership and cost. Most ice will trade quickly. Weekend ice might have to be traded for a full-sheet for the other team. Use your checkbook to buy the ice. Peewee B1 would write Peewee AA a check if they purchased a piece of ice from Peewee AA.
