Warm Up 8/27 Turn in your signed Safety Contract on the front table Put your Science composition book on your desk. Turn in your signed Safety Contract on the front table If you forgot to get it signed, do so ASAP On your computer, go to NetSchool (www.moodle.nisdtx.org) Log into NetSchool Under Navigation, click on “My Courses” Unenroll from any of last year’s classes (Click on the class, then click on “Unenrol me from this course” listed under Administration)

Warm Up: Sign up for “Remind” Remind (formerly Remind101) allows teachers to text message students about class reminders such as homework and upcoming tests. This service enables both the teacher and student to keep their numbers private from each other; the phone number below is assigned to me through the website

Computer Organization Today we will: Enroll in NetSchool Set the following as “Favorites”: NetSchool home course page eGrades Email Optional: Set up email on your iPhone Pin apps to Taskbar Pin apps to the Start Screen Optional: Download Word and PPT for iPhone Create sticky notes for homework reminders Set up folders for organizing & saving files

NetSchool Enrollment Instructions On NetSchool, click on “Home” In the search bar titled “search courses”, type in ‘Christian’ Click on the correct title: Click on ‘Administration’ on the right hand side of the page. Select “Enroll me in this course” Enrollment Code: christian(period #) Example: If you are in my 5th period class, your code is christian5 Case sensitive

Making your “Favorites Bar” show up There are different instructions for how to get your Favorites Bar to show up depending on which internet browser you are using. The next three slides will show you how to make your Favorites Bar show up in: Chrome Internet Explorer Firefox Follow the directions for the slide that corresponds to your preferred internet browser.

In Chrome: If you do not see this favorites bar, you need to go to the settings button in the top right corner Bookmarks  Show bookmarks bar

In Internet Explorer: If you do not see this favorites bar, you need to go to view Toolbars  click on Favorites bar

In FireFox: If you do not see this favorites bar, you need to go to the settings button in the top right corner Bookmarks Toolbar  View bookmarks bar

Set NetSchool Courses page as a “Favorite” Click on “My Courses” at the top left corner Step 1: This is where you will see all of the courses you have enrolled in

Favoriting on Internet Explorer Right click on the link  change the name to NetSchool

Click on the star next to the “Google Bar.” It will turn blue. For Chrome and Firefox Step 2: Click on the star next to the “Google Bar.” It will turn blue. Click on it again and this box should appear. 3. Change the Name to NetSchool Change the Folder to Bookmarks Toolbar

You have just created a quick access button for your NetSchool pages.

Click on the A+ symbol at the top right of the page. Set eGrades page as a “Favorite” Go to www.nisdtx.org Click on the A+ symbol at the top right of the page. OR click on the ‘Grades’ icon on my NetSchool page

Click on the star next to the “Google Bar.” It will turn blue. Click on it again and this box should appear. Change the Name to eGrades Change the Folder to Bookmarks Toolbar

Set Email as a “Favorite” Using your favorite bar, go to my NetSchool page Click on the Email picture “Favorite” it by double clicking on the star and adding it to your Bookmarks toolbar.

Pinning to the Task Bar To get applications to “pin” to the bottom of your screen, as shown below…

Touch here Swipe To pull up the “Search” function, touch your finger on the right side of the screen and swipe it to the left.

Click on “Search”

In the Search bar, start typing Microsoft Word and it should appear in the list. RIGHT CLICK on it and these options will appear. Select Pin to Taskbar

Repeat for Microsoft PowerPoint RIGHT CLICK on it and select Pin to Taskbar

(instead of Pin to Taskbar…or do both to get them in both locations) Pin to Start If you want any application to show up on your home screen, select “Pin to Start” (instead of Pin to Taskbar…or do both to get them in both locations)

Optional: download PPT and Word to iPhone There are often times where you forget your computer or it is in technology and you are able to use your phone as a backup. From the App Store, download: Microsoft PowerPoint Microsoft Word

Sticky Note for homework Use the “Search” function to find Sticky Notes Click on it

Create a sticky note for each of your classes Put the sticky notes in order of your class schedule Right click to change the color of your sticky notes Add homework and other reminders throughout the day as it gets assigned

Set up folders on to save documents 2. Click on Desktop on the left hand side Click on the FOLDER icon at the bottom of your screen

RIGHT click on the open space Select New Select Folder 2 1

Change the name to 7th Grade 15-16 OR 8th Grade 15-16

Create 4 more folders to make a folder for each core subject Save all documents to these folders.
