Matter is anything that has mass and takes up space. What is matter? Matter is anything that has mass and takes up space.

Solids, like ice, chairs, mountains, and bones What is matter? Solids, like ice, chairs, mountains, and bones are forms of matter.

Liquids, like oceans, oil, honey, and lava What is matter? Liquids, like oceans, oil, honey, and lava are forms of matter.

Gases, like air, bubbles, fumes, and helium, What is matter? Gases, like air, bubbles, fumes, and helium, are forms of matter.

What is matter? Matter can move from one state to another, but can still be the same substance. They can go from solid to liquid or from liquid to gas.

What is matter? We can describe matter by talking about its physical properties, like what color it is, what it feels like, and what it smells like.
