The Waverley Werewolves www.waverleywerewolves.co.uk The Waverley Werewolves Chapter 2

The young woman behind the Reception desk in the hotel, was also wearing a kilt.   "Bienvenue en Ecosse", she said and then stopped. "Ah, wrong school group. Your not French, are you?" "Non", replied Miss Smith, "Je suis Anglais" and they both laughed. The Receptionist, whose name was Rebecca, explained that all of their rooms were on the fifth floor. "The lift is temporarily out of order", she said, "but the exercise will do you good. Paul, our porter, will show you to your rooms." Paul was a university student who had taken a job at the hotel for the summer holidays. He told them he was from California and was studying computer programming.

"Wow", said Claire, "that's far, far away. You don't sound American."   "It's not and I'm not", replied Paul, "California is in Falkirk, which is about thirty miles from here." Paul explained that this was his second year of working at the hotel. "It's being refurbished. The previous owners called it the Hollywood Hotel and each floor was decorated around a different film theme.' When they got to the fifth floor the lighting in the corridor was dim and subdued. Large posters of old film stars lined the walls. "That's Bela Lugosi,", said Paul, pointing to a photograph of a man in a large black cloak, with fangs. "He was Count Dracula, the vampire, in lots of 1930s films."

"That's Boris Karloff, who played the Mummy and Lon Chaney Junior who was the Wolfman."   "So, the theme is not Hollywood musicals", joked Mr Maxwell. "No", said Paul, "It's classic Hollywood horror movies." Each of the bedroom doors creaked loudly as they were opened. "That's a special feature as well", added Paul. Brian and Toby were sharing a room together. "That's Boris Karloff from the film Frankenstein", said Paul, as they stood looking at a huge poster of the monster that covered the wall opposite their beds. "When the lights are off, the eyes glow in the dark. Don't panic, they are meant to." "Once you have unpacked", said Miss Smith, "I'd like everyone downstairs in Reception in twenty minutes. We are going exploring."
