Intel driver issue workaround prior to end user deployment Thinkpad X1Yoga
Confirm the system has external video Use one of the following two Lenovo FRU’s to confirm that the system has video through VGA. 03X7014 03X6601
External Video Confirmed On a newly imaged system, at first boot the select a language screen should be visible on the external display.
Enter Windows Audit Mode With the Language selection screen up hold down the Fn key and then press the Ctrl+Shift+F3 keys. This should automatically reboot the system into Audit Mode.
Step 1 Download the Lenovo Patch module for X1 Carbon and X1 Yoga from the following URL:Patch module for Intel Panel for Windows 10 (64-bit) Once the driver is downloaded and extracted, the X1CFxLCD.bat file is loaded in the C:\DRIVERS\PANEL folder. The extraction utility does not auto-launch the patch utility. Installing files Go to C:\DRIVERS\PANEL. Double-click/Double-tap the file X1CFxLCD.bat. Follow the instructions on the screen. Restart the computer after installation. In the rare occurrence that the patch utility should fail to resolve the issue, then follow step 2.
Step 2 Remove the currently installed Intel video driver via Programs and Features. Reboot the system and install the currently available video driver. The currently available video driver is 21.20.16.4590. NOTE: The old driver must be removed and system rebooted. An over-installation of the new driver over the existing driver does not remedy the issue. Per the .4590 version README listed below. README: <21.20.16.4590>(N1CDT32W) Fix an issue where ThinkPad X1 Yoga OLED model might have incorrect brightness value. NOTE: The user needs to uninstall the previous version of the Intel Graphics driver manually. After rebooting the system, the user can install this Intel Graphics driver.
Exit Windows Audit Mode Do this by clicking on ok to Enter the System Out-of-Box Experience (OOBE).
Workaround Completed After rebooting. The system should be sitting at the Language selection screen waiting on configuration by the end user. Thank you.
