Look, Think, Discuss, Research, Write, Share and Think some more! AP Art History…exer. 1 Look, Think, Discuss, Research, Write, Share and Think some more!

Look! Take a few moments to look over the cards on the tables. Do not pick them up yet, do not read the backs of the cards. Just look.

Think! Why do you like it? What do you know about the Artist that created it? What do you know about the time it was created in?

Think some more! Would you consider this a Great piece of art? Does the Artist have a purpose or message? Who or What was this artist influenced by?

Discuss Talk to at least two different people about your work. What was their reaction to it? What did they like? What did they dislike or find confusing?

Research Take about 10-15 minutes to research the work and the artist who created it.

Write Using your own feelings, your research and your discussion with others WRITE on no more than 1 page double spaced why this is an interesting piece of art. Print it.

Share Share your chosen piece and your writing with the group.

Comment As each person shares write down your comments. What did he/she help to explain about the piece? What questions did you have that were left unanswered? What piece of information did you pick up? What aspect of the work was most interesting to you?

Rethink Reviewing the comments of your classmates… What could you have done better? What are you pleased about? What more would YOU like to know about the piece?
