EUBrazil Cloud Connect project overview Ignacio Blanquer EU project coordinator Francisco Brasileiro Brazilian project coordinator www.eubrazilcloudconnect.eu

EUBrazilCC workshop – Lisbon 18/5/2015 Contents What EUBrazilCC aims at? (Objectives) Who does what? (Partners & Roles) What have we done? (Achievements) Where can I get more information? (Outreach) Legacy of EUBrazilCC so far. What comes next? Start talking about the EU brazilCC Lasting Legacy EUBrazilCC – FP7-614048 - MCT/CNPq Nº 13/2012 EUBrazilCC workshop – Lisbon 18/5/2015

What EUBrazilCC aims at? Foster EU-Brazil international cooperation in distributed computing infrastructure at three levels: Heterogeneous (especially cloud) infrastructure federation. Integration of Frameworks to efficiently Access infrastructure resources. User’s applications, creating shared spaces for the benefit of international collaborations. Common (EU+Brazil) involvement in cloud standards definition. EUBrazilCC – FP7-614048 - MCT/CNPq Nº 13/2012 EUBrazilCC workshop – Lisbon 18/5/2015

Who does what? Partners & Roles UPV, ES Dissemination and Community Outreach BSC, ES UFCG, CG User Scenarios Interoperabilty Trust-IT, UK LNCC, RJ Gateways & Portals Programming Frameworks & Execution Services UNEW, UK CRIA, SP Data Agregation & Adaptation Infrastructure Federation CMCC, IT FIOCRUZ, RJ Data Providers Infrastructure Resources UvA, NL PUC-Rio, RJ ISCIII, ES EUBrazilCC – FP7-614048 - MCT/CNPq Nº 13/2012 EUBrazilCC workshop – Lisbon 18/5/2015

What have we done? Three Prototype Use Cases Leishmaniasis Virtual Laboratory Integration of four data collections on Leishmania (CLIOC, COLFLEB, ISCIII-WHO-CCL and speciesLink for ecological information) and Molecular Processing Pipelines. First prototype of molecular analysis to study the population structure of the Phlebotomus Perniciosus. (http://lvl.i3m.upv.es/). Cardio-Vascular System Simulation Integration of ADAN (Arterial system) and Alya Red (Heart) simulators, combining HPC and HTC computing models. First prototype that couples Alya with ADAN to execute low definition problems on local resources (MareNostrum). Prototype of a connector that allows the synchronization of Alya and ADAN simulators on separate HPC facilities. Biodiversity and Climate Change Integrated data analysis concerning evapotranspiration and vegetation indices (SEBAL), climate indicators on historical data and future scenarios (CMIP5 data) and forestry biomass (inspection & postprocessing LiDAR products). Cloud based deployment of the analytics services (through IM). First prototype of the clearinghouse and UC3 Scientific Gateway.  EUBrazilCC – FP7-614048 - MCT/CNPq Nº 13/2012 EUBrazilCC workshop – Lisbon 18/5/2015

What have we done? An integrated platform Data analysis framework used for climate data in the Infrastructure for the European Network for Earth System Modelling Fine-grain workflow engine with cloud, and social network features, with special support to OMICS Widely used platform- agnostic distributed computing infrastructure, already included in EGI Federated Cloud ecosystem Rapid Prototyping Tool for Sci. Gateways in the SINAPAD Network of HPC centres PDAS eScienceCentral COMPSs / PMES mc2 Infrastr. Manager fogbow CSGRID Deployment and cloud broker service in the ecosystem of EGI Federated Cloud Unified batch submission for heterogeneous HPC systems at different domain areas in Petrobras, Backend for SINAPAD since 2011 New development of the project, inheriting the expertise from OurGrid EUBrazilCC – FP7-614048 - MCT/CNPq Nº 13/2012 EUBrazilCC workshop – Lisbon 18/5/2015

What have we done? One Federated Infrastructure EUBrazilCC gathers computing resources from 6 centres 5 out of 6 providers already federated with fogbow. Development of fogbow, an on-premise lightweight federation system Around 1000 cores from ONE & OStack IaaS Supporting OCCI, VOMS, and EGI appDB. EUBrazilCC VOMS membership credentials for authentication. fogbow being considered by RNP for their research cloud. SERPRO has started testing fogbow. Adaptation of CSGRID for more flexible access to cluster end-points and richer resource and job metadata Other requirements on the way (support to fogbow). EUBrazilCC – FP7-614048 - MCT/CNPq Nº 13/2012 EUBrazilCC workshop – Lisbon 18/5/2015

Where can I get more information?
