Big Feature Reminders Due Friday, 100 points Required: Rough draft with 2 edits (including Taylor’s) Edit sheet with NewsU: Writer’s Workbench edits (see slide 3) Final draft with Catchy headline phrase Summary subheadline sentence Creative lead Story that follows all 10 feature guidelines (except maybe past tense)

More reminders Look at the PowerPoints on Blackboard Stay focused! Make it interesting Quotes and information should be the focus – not too heavy on either Try and avoid 1 sentence quote/1 sentence info. or transition and repeat Keep your opinionated words, phrases, and sentences OUT

Writer’s Workbench: NewsU Enroll in “The Writer’s Workbench: 50 tools you can use” under the Editing portion of the course list for NewsU.org. Read each of the four sections (nuts and bolts, special effects, blueprints, useful habits) in detail, taking notes where needed. For the first three sections, show three sentences you rework according to each section of tips. (Rule: old sentence, new sentence) This means 9 reworked sentences total. For the last section, simply take brief notes. This course will appear as part of a Feature unit test This is a MULTIPLE DAY ASSIGNMENT due Wednesday

Photo requirement At least 2 candid photos turned in by Monday Full credit Person gives you photo of them doing their ‘angle’ activity (ex. Riding horses if story is about horses) You take candid of them at school doing everyday things Extra credit Candids are taken by you of them doing their angle activity
