Presentation transcript:

Georgina’s Gang have continued to assist young people in need of specialist equipment and emotional support in Guernsey, as well as those with Neimann Pick and their families beyond our shores. Losing Georgina has been so hard and we are so grateful to be able to keep Georgina’s name and spirit alive. She would be as proud of you, as we are. Here’s to a 2017 full of hope, kindness and generosity. Take a look at what we have achieved with your help & continuing support over the last year….. Please note that photo’s are not available for all slides. This is down to parents/families requesting anonymity.

Specialist Profiling bed Josh can now sleep safely and peacefully within his new profiling bed. This bed will move and adapt with him and can lower to the floor for him to crawl into as well as raise higher for his mum to assist him in getting changed. Josh’s Mum wanted to say a few words….. “I would like to thank every single one of you who helped to organise & fund raise….the pictures show you just how happy he is …… and when we lower it down for him to step out by himself he gets so excited. It is life changing. We are so grateful to all of you – thank you so much….”

Bathroom A young local boy with mobility problems and learning difficulties needed our support, due to a lack of funds to finish an adapted bathroom, to assist with his independence & care needs. We have been able to fund plumbing parts to help relieve some of the financial strain for the family. We hope to continue to help wherever possible. His Mum wanted to say “from bare necessities to luxury, thank you”.

Warmth A young boy with a heart condition was struggling to stay warm over the winter which would have lead to poor health and hospitalisation. We were approached to help in some way. Heating vouchers were purchased from Guernsey Electricity to assist the family. His Mum wanted to say ”Thank you so much I cannot tell you how thankful I am!” x

Comfort A young girl with disabilities had to move house due to her expanding needs, however the family could not afford to carpet her bedroom and the living area. Georgina’s Gang paid half of the costs (alongside another local charity) to ensure she could move around her home safely and comfortably.

Specialist Appointment and flights A young boy with a number of health issues was requiring a specialist appointment in the UK to determine a diagnosis as this was not possible on Island, however this was not deemed necessary by the local authorities. Having been in a similar situation, Georgina’s Gang recognised the strain this can have on families and paid for flights to UK and an appointment with the specialist. Thankfully, a diagnosis has been given and he is now receiving assistance locally. His Mum wanted to say…..“wow, just wow. Appointment was incredible……recommending a certain med and will ring our GP to discuss referral pathway for further investigations regarding the diagnosis. He was incredible. Thank you!!!!”

2017 - Shay

15 month old Shay has been given the devastating diagnosis of Niemann Pick Type A. Georgina’s Gang have met with the family and are determined to assist Shay, his mum, dad and the rest of the family to “Treasure Every Moment”. This year will be extremely difficult for all involved and the equipment required to make Shays little life more enjoyable and manageable will come at a cost. Please help us help them
