Three pictures of priorities (Matthew 6:19-24) Our Treasure – In heaven or earth? Our Eyes – Light or Dark? Our Master – God or money?
Bigger Barns Luke 12:16-21 – “The land of a rich man produced plentifully, 17 and he thought to himself, ‘What shall I do, for I have nowhere to store my crops?’ 18 And he said, ‘I will do this: I will tear down my barns and build larger ones, and there I will store all my grain and my goods. 19 And I will say to my soul, “Soul, you have ample goods laid up for many years; relax, eat, drink, be merry.”’ 20 But God said to him, ‘Fool! This night your soul is required of you, and the things you have prepared, whose will they be?’ 21 So is the one who lays up treasure for himself and is not rich toward God.”
Deceitful riches and desires for other things Mark 4:18-20 – … but the cares of the world and the deceitfulness of riches and the desires for other things enter in and choke the word, and it proves unfruitful. 20 But those that were sown on the good soil are the ones who hear the word and accept it and bear fruit, thirtyfold and sixtyfold and a hundredfold.”
The Heart Proverbs 4:23 – Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.

Instructions to the wealthy who follow Christ 1 Timothy 6:19 – Instruct those who are rich in this present world not to be conceited or to fix their hope on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly supplies us with all things to enjoy. 18 Instruct them to do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous and ready to share, 19 storing up for themselves the treasure of a good foundation for the future, so that they may take hold of that which is life indeed. Don’t be conceited – I’m wealthy because I’m smarter Don’t fix hope on wealth, but God – Anyone can lose wealth. Enjoy – It’s OK to enjoy financial blessings God clearly gave you. Do good – Invest in serving people – Give time, not just money. Give generously/share – Think how much can I give, not keep. RESULT – Eternal treasure in the future. = True value in life!
