MENTORING PROGRAM ICON WA | 2017-2018 APPLICATION PACK THE INFLUENCE, COLLABORATION & OPPORTUNITY NETWORK FOR B2B PROFESSIONALS MENTORING PROGRAM ICON WA | 2017-2018 APPLICATION PACK

OVERVIEW OF OUR MENTORING PROGRAM PROGRAM TIMING AND STRUCTURE The WA chapter of ICON is proud to launch our inaugural reverse, cross-industry mentoring program to match professionals aspiring to leadership with established senior leaders, to help build a culture of inclusive leadership across our membership. The program will run from October 2017 to December 2018. We recommend mentors and mentees should meet at least once a quarter in person. The suggested length of each meeting is one hour. This meeting can be arranged as is suitable for the mentor and mentee- perhaps catch up over coffee. Additional communication may include phone or email interaction, as agreed. RULES AND ETHICS Mentors and mentees should: Take turns shouting coffee during the meetings. Provide at least 24 hours' notice when moving an agreed meeting. Respect confidentiality surrounding every meeting and communication. Refrain from engaging in unprofessional, dishonest, unlawful or discriminatory conduct (goes without saying). Contact your ICON WA chair if you have any concerns during the program. MENTORING PROGRAM | ICON WA | 2017 THE INFLUENCE, COLLABORATION & OPPORTUNITY NETWORK FOR B2B PROFESSIONALS

OBJECTIVES AND BENEFITS RESPONSIBILITIES The program encourages mentors and mentees to: Identify and create strategies to achieve career goals. Share leadership experience and helpful advice. Expand networks. Mentors will benefit from: Increased awareness to relevant emerging trends, new technology and innovative solutions as applied in another industry. Sharpening inclusive leadership capabilities. Giving back by helping to shape the careers of other B2B professionals. Exposure to fresh perspectives and skills from professionals earlier in their careers. Expanding leadership skills by co-developing solutions to practical challenges. Mentees will benefit from: Access to senior leaders from diverse industries. Strategies and tools for achieving career aspirations. Increased self-esteem and confidence. Skill expansion and development. Insight into leadership and career progression pathways. Mentors and mentees are both required to: Agree on the date, time and location for each meeting. Come to each meeting with a goal, topic or question (ideally communicated ahead of time so both parties have time to consider the points for discussion). Actively listen and explore scenarios and outcomes with an open mind. To brainstorm a proposed course of action/next steps, whilst ensuring the affected person retains ownership of the challenge/opportunity and how to best manage. Provide encouragement to help explore options relative to their career path. Remain objective to provide clear, non-judgmental observations. To describe the benefits or consequences observed and offer helpful insights to achieve a desired outcome.
