Presentation Group four Why do dentists end up with legal problems when treating patients? What can they do to prevent this from happening?

Dental Negligence In this section, 242 medical legal cases for dental negligence were evaluated.

Conclusion of the survey No. 1 negligence : Extraction No. 2 negligence : Endodontic procedures No. 3 negligence : Dental implants No. 4 negligence : Substandard crown, bridge treatment No. 5 negligence : Periodontal disease No. 6 negligence : Orthodontics

No. 1 negligence : Extraction Eight patients died from the infections Nerve injuries Sinus perforation Mandibular fractures and TMJ injuries

No. 2 negligence: Endodontic procedures All of the defendants were general dentists Complications included 1. instruments left in canals 2. nerve and sinus perforations 3. life-threatening infections Four fatalities

No. 3 negligence: Dental implants 24 of the negligence claims involving dental implant surgery Defendants were general dentists, and one was a periodontist
