Close Call Champion Recall meeting Thursday 12th November Westwood Network Rail Training and Management Centre, Coventry

Close Call Champion Recall Meeting It was a great pleasure to see so many of our Close Call Champions at our recent recall event, on the day we had over 90 champions in the room supported by senior industry leaders including Lisbeth Fromling, Network Rail Chief Health and Safety Officer. We undertook a recap of the 2 day champion training as a refresher and to reinforce everyone’s commitment to preventing harm and damage. Feedback from the attendees was extremely encouraging and from the front of the class I can honestly say that the passion for safety in the room was overwhelming. We now need to build on our passion and keep encouraging others to identify unsafe acts and unsafe conditions before they turn into accidents. As always we need these events made safe and then publicised via the Close Call system which we as champions can assist with. I will be putting a training pack together on the web site available to any company wishing to undertake a CCC training event. I will also place a blank Close Call Champion advertising poster for you to personalise and position in your workplace or site noticeboard. It was also a pleasure to hand over your snazzy jackets, backpacks etc.    

Close Call Champion Recall Meeting I’ve already had some great ideas from some of the champions who have already set up joint meetings to share their experiences which they have agreed to feedback o you all via the web site. Another great suggestion is take time in the next few days to make contact with your CC responsible manager and establish a regular meeting for them to share all the latest close call information which you can then share to your teams. I am also looking at publishing a Close Call Champion Charter.”  The last word is as always- Ask your colleagues- “ HAVE YOU EARNED YOUR CLOSE CALL STRIPES? I HAVE.”
