Maths In maths this week, the children have been making numbers using the Base 10 equipment and learning how many tens and ones make a number. They have also been partitioning numbers e.g. 42 = 40 and 2 42 = 4 tens and 2 ones Some children have also started to find missing parts when partitioning e.g. 42 = ? and 2 At home, you could give your child some two-digit numbers (e.g. 45 23 87). Talk about what the number is made up of (e.g. in 45 there are 4 tens and 5 units) and then ask them to ‘ partition’ (e.g. 45 = 40 and 5). Behaviour 25 points system Each child has 5 points a day If given a warning card (Yellow) then the child will lose one point If given a consequence card (Red) then the child will lose two points If behaviour is corrected then they will have the card taken away and no points will be deducted If your child has all of their points at the end of the week then they will get a text home. Home Learning Home learning will be every 3 weeks Please let it be the child’s learning-I don’t want to know how much you know of the Year 2 curriculum. Please check the website every Friday evening for the newsletter. When it has a love to learn on it we will send it home on a Friday too. Spellings will be sent home every Friday and tested the following Friday. Times tables should be rehearsed regularly at home. Reading with your child – 3 times a week.
