Land Ahoy! Grammar for Writing: Writing: We will focus on: Using noun phrases in fictional and non-fiction writing Adding commas in a list Joining clauses with different conjucntions Accurate use of a question mark Apostrophe for omission Writing consistently in the past and present tense Writing: We are focusing on: Writing diary entries for historical characters Describing scenes in detail Writing short narratives based on art work by Gregory Manchess Forming sentences to be used in a newspaper article based on historical fact Letter writing Communication and Language (CAL) We are learning to: To listen in a range of situations (whole class, group, individual) Science: We will be learning to: Notice that animals, including humans, have offspring which grow into adults Find out about and describe the basic needs of animals, including humans, for survival (water, food and air) Describe the importance for humans of exercise, eating the right amounts of different types of food, and hygiene. Observe and describe how seeds and bulbs grow into mature plants Find out and describe how plants need water, light and a suitable temperature to grow and stay healthy. Art, Design and Technology: This term we will be looking at art work by Gregory Manchess and how his work differs from other artists. We will be using his work as a stimuli for writing. We will also be designing a healthy dinner menu using photographs of food as well as making a fresh and healthy lunch

Maths Maths P.E and Educational Visits Reminders We are learning to: Count objects , read and write numerals and words to 100 Represent numbers to 100 Tens and ones with a part whole model Tens and ones using addition Use a place value chart Compare and order numbers and objects Count in 2s, 5s, 10s and 3s Maths We are learning to: Number bonds to 100 Add and subtract in groups of 10 Add and subtract 2 digit and 1 digit numbers crossing the tens Add three 1-digit numbers Count money in pounds and pence including notes Find the difference and the total Multiply using arrays P.E and Educational Visits We are learning to: Master basic movements including running, jumping, throwing and catching, as well as developing balance, agility and co-ordination, and begin to apply these in a range of activities Visit to the Thames River Visit to the London Dockland Museum (West India Quay) Reminders Wear correct uniform and bring full P.E kit in on a Monday. Homework and reading books are due on Wednesday. Name all clothes clearly please. Gates open at 8.45am To read and practise mental maths with your child every evening.
