In-School ACT (for Juniors ONLY) State voucher program-changes this year Students do NOT register for this day; handled through school Mandatory participation/new graduation requirement Students with accommodations: April 18th-May 3rd window This program could look different next year (for current sophomores)

ACT Info www.actstudent.org ACT Dates (Saturdays) Students/Parents responsible for on-line registration and fees Fee waivers available for those on FRL (2 per student) (college application fee waivers available-colleges not required to accept) Can take more than once Average increase of 1-3 points when taken a second time

SAT Info https://collegereadiness.collegeboard.org/sat/register SAT Dates Students/Parents responsible for online registration and fees Fee waivers available for those on FRL (2 for SAT registration and 2 for SAT Subject Tests) Link to SAT Fee Waiver Info College application fee waivers (4 per student who takes SAT with fee waiver); schools not required to accept

ACT vs SAT TN is an “ACT state” Both accepted at most colleges Ivy League and some highly selective/out of states require SAT (and some even SAT subject tests) Student needs to check admissions requirements to schools they plan to apply Applying to a competitive school? Take both and see which you do better on! What does superscore mean? (It’s up to the college!)

More About General Assembly Merit Scholarship (GAMS) 3.75 unweighted GPA and minimum 29 ACT Composite (or SAT equivalent) Up to $1,500 supplemental to HOPE scholarship

Merit-Based Institutional/University Scholarships Some have different applications and deadlines than general admissions Also look at departmental scholarships (i.e. offered through College of Engineering) Let’s look at some examples

University of Tennessee Knoxville Scholarships “Institutional” (automatically considered) vs “Competitive” (earlier application deadline and supplemental application) Volunteer Scholarship (institutional) 28-29 ACT=$3,000 per year/$12,000 total 30-33 ACT=$6,000 per year/$24,000 total 34-36 ACT=$8,000 per year/$32,000 total
