UCAS Applications - The Facts This is a formal application There are 4000 characters and 47 lines limit Paragraphs are important Write it in Word and then cut and paste into Apply (UCAS Application System) Spelling, punctuation and grammar need to be perfect Plagiarism Detection System – they will know!!

UCAS Applications - Dos and Don’ts Avoid over used clichés - ‘I have a thirst for knowledge…’ Avoid random lists e.g. books you’ve read, positions you’ve held…it’s not what you’ve done, it’s what you think about or learned from it that counts Don’t make sweeping statements without providing specific examples – ‘my experiences are vast…’ Don’t over use ‘passion’ or ‘passionate’ - demonstrate this through your examples Don’t pitch to a particular university
