SEXUAL & ASEXUAL REPRODUCTION INVOLVE CELL DIVISION ASEXUAL REPRODUCTION INVOLVES ONE PARENT: through binary fission, budding, & regeneration –One organism.
What are binary fission and budding?
Asexual Reproduction A new organism is produced from one organism and will have hereditary material identical to that of the parent organism.
TYPES OF. ASEXUAL REPRODUCTION Only one parent Offspring all look the same as the parents No variation in the offspring Not good chance of surviving.

Lesson 1 – How do Living Things Reproduce UNIT 7 - Reproduction Lesson 1 – How do Living Things Reproduce

Offspring The young of living things (i.e. mammals)

Sexual reproduction Reproduction, through sexual intercourse, from two parents.

Asexual reproduction Reproduction from one parent (i.e. one- celled organisms)

Fission Simplest kind of asexual reproduction, which means “splitting”.

Daughter cells Two new cells created when a cell splits in two (amebas and paramecia)

Budding Another form of asexual reproduction. A part of a cells’ wall pushes out (forms a bud) and the nucleus splits into two, part goes into this bud.
