Set 10 Muscles Hip and Hamstrings

Hamstring Muscle Group

Vertical Jump Muscle Group

Ischial Tuberosity of Pelvis

Medial Condyle of Tibia

Semimembranosus (Medial Hamstring)

Semimembranosus (medial Hamstring) Origin: Insertion: Action: Ischial tuberosity (ischum of pelvis) medial condyle of tibia flexes leg at knee and medially rotates; extends, adducts, and medially rotates thigh at hip

Semitendinosus

Semitendinosus Origin: Insertion: Action: Ischial tuberosity with tendon of the long head of biceps femoris tibia just below the medial condyle flexes leg at knee and medially rotates; extends, adducts and medially rotates thigh at hip

Biceps femoris

Biceps femoris Origin: Insertion: Action: LONG HEAD: ischial tuberosity SHORT HEAD: supracondylar line of femur lateral side of fibula, lateral condyle of tibia flexes and laterally rotates leg at knee; extends, adducts and laterally rotates thigh at hip

Gluteus maximus

Gluteus maximus Origin: Insertion: Action: posterior gluteal line of illium, sacrum, and coccyx gluteal tuberosity of femur and iliotibial tract (IT band) extends thigh at hip forcefully; upper 2/3 of muscle is abductor and lower 1/3 is inactive as abductor or adductor in standing position

Bursitis of Knee

Knee Joint Ligaments

Gracilis

Gracilis Origin: Insertion: Action: lower ½ of symphysis pupis and ramus of pupis medial surface of tibia just below condyle adducts and medially rotates thigh; flexes and medially rotates leg

Sartorius

Sartorius Origin: Insertion: Action: anterior iliac spine and upper half of notch below medial surface of tibia just below condyle flexes, laterally rotates and abducts thigh as when crossing your legs
