NASA GSFC at 2017 AwesomeCon On June 16 - 18, 2017, NASA Goddard Space Flight Center participated in AwesomeCon, Washington DC’s ComicCon held at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center. The event attracted 70,000 visitors over the weekend. GSFC hosted a booth in the FutureCon area of the Exhibition Space as well as 7 panels. NASA participated in 13 panels over the weekend. The panels updated audience members on NASA’s latest discoveries and future plans for space exploration. The booth allowed NASA scientists and outreach specialists to engage people of all ages in conversation, encouraging them to learn more about Earth and space science through NASA-created resources. Panels The Moon: Cornerstone of Solar System Science, 210 visitors NASA's Space Lasers, 255 visitors  The Total Solar Eclipse from NASA, 240 visitors Alien Climates on Planets Near and Far, 220 visitors Cassini's Spectacular Grand Finale at Saturn, 162 visitors You've Heard of Black Holes - We Reveal the Truth, 165 visitors Mars - Past, Present & Future: NASA Explores Mars, 425 visitors Observing the Universe with JWST & John Mather NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope: Art + Science, 114 visitors The Collaboration between Hollywood and Real Space Exploration Robots in Space, 130 visitors Women in STEM Citizens in Space! 62 visitors The Moon: Cornerstone of Solar System Science Noah Petro, Wes Patterson, Brett Denevi, Nayi Castro, Tim Livengood Lead NASA Coordinator: Dawn Myers LRO Booth: Molly Wasser SSPD Booth: Peter Sooy ICESAT Booth: Valerie Casasanto GPM Booth: Kristin Weaver, Trena Ferrell LANDSAT Booth: Mike Taylor Panel Coordinators: Lora Bleacher, Andrea Jones, Vanessa Lloyd, Barb Mattson Booth Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter ICESAT LANDSAT Global Precipitation Measurement Satellite Servicing Projects Division
