The Second Consultation! South Eastern Rail Franchise Public Consultation

South Eastern Franchise expires December 2018 DfT preparing spec for next franchise CLOSING DATE FOR RESPONSES IS 23RD MAY

Consultation document covers: Current service Challenges Improvement Bringing it all together Questions

Timetable 28th February 2017 Invite franchise EoI 11th April 2017 EoI received 23rd May 2017 Public consultation finishes September 2017 ITT issued to stakeholder bidders Dec 2017/Jan 2018 Bids received August 2018 Contract awarded 9th December 2018 New franchise starts

Key Questions Are priorities right? Is more space needed at busy times? Should first class be abolished? How can we improve customer service? How can we simplify fares and ticketing? How can we improve stations?

Specially Relevant Questions For Us: Do you support or oppose the extension of high speed services from London St. Pancras to Hastings, Bexhill and Rye (sic)? How far do you support reducing journey times to key destinations in Kent and East Sussex by reducing stops at less well used stations to create hourly fast services? Which services would benefit most from this approach?

Other questions relate to evening and weekend services, better connections to DLR, Tramlink, London Underground, simplified suburban timetable, the relationship between the train operator and Network Rail, the approach to customer service, private sector investment, using more lightly used sections of the railway in a different way and the benefits of changing the franchise boundary.

HBC, along with other partners, is continuing to lobby for high speed rail to come here, and are currently considering updating the economic impact work we commissioned to strengthen our case. We really want local businesses to respond to the consultations at: https://www.networkrail.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2016/12/Kent-Route-Study-Draft-for-Consultation.pdf https://www.gov.uk/government/consultations/future-of-south-eastern-rail-services

Thank You! Any questions, please?
