Noelle Gambale Period 1 Day 6 Hera Noelle Gambale Period 1 Day 6

Overview Greek Name: Hera Latin Name: Juno Parentage: Hera was the child of Cronus and Rhea. Sphere of Influence: Hera dominated over the sky and starry heavens. She also had power over the weather. Attributes: marriage, peacock, royal lion, women, cow, Milky Way, beauty, diamond crown Birthplace: Crete Favored Place: Sparta, Myceanae, Argos

Ancient Art I choose this picture of Hera from ancient Roman art for a few reasons. First of all, she was the Goddess of women and marriage and she was pictured as beautiful and in this picture she is shown as very pretty. Hera is also the Goddess of nature and in the background of the picture there is green which I interpreted as trees. She is also known as the queen of Heaven and in this picture she is shown wearing a crown. One of her symbols is the hawk which is shown on the end of her chair. Because it shows many of her attributes, I selected this picture.

Modern Art I choose this picture of Hera because I think in a way it is similar to the way the ancient Romans saw her. She is shown beautiful and rich. Also, the peacock which is one of her attributes she is known for is shown lying next to her. One color symbol she is known for is white which is the color of her gown. Her head is topped with a diamond crown which is something in ancient art she is also seen wearing. I liked that is shows aspects Roman artists would have put in.
