The Bill of Rights 1 – Petition? Assemble? 2 – BEAR? Arms 3 – Quartering soldiers? 4 – Search my stuff? Seize my property? 5 – Jury trial? Right to remain silent? 4, 5, 6, and 7 = DUE PROCESS “DUE PROCESS” = If you are accused of a crime, you have a set of rights that cannot be denied.

Goal- Number One To Form A More Perfect Union When the Constitution was written the states saw themselves as separate nations. The founders (framers) wanted the states to work together. U.S. Postal System U.S. coins and paper money

Goal- Number Two To Establish Justice The nation needed a uniform system to settle legal disputes. Make laws and set up courts that are fair Jury System

Goal- Number Three Domestic Tranquility The National government has the power to keep peace and order inside America. Taxes can be used to do this. Raise money to keep peace and maintain order with MILITARY

Goal- Number Four Provide for the Common Defense Protect the United States from foreign attack The United States government has the power to raise armies and navies.

Goal- Number Five To Promote the General Welfare Birth certificate Marriage License Clean air Better Roads Education The National government has the power to promote the well- being of its citizens.

Goal- Number Six Secure the Blessings of Liberty The governments job is to protect freedom for all citizens. Everyone has to answer to the Constitution and Bill of Rights. Future generations will be free Prevent a tyrant from running the country by impeaching the President.
