Containing Urban Sprawl National Urban & Housing Policy In Mexico, most local governments do not have an updated Urban Masterplan. In order to address urban expansion while the plans are being developed; SEDATU has established Perimeters of Urban Restrain. These perimeters have been created as an emerging strategy to contain urban growth by the allocating federal investment and subsidies for new housing within the established boundaries only. 8 out of 10 households have been built inside the Perimeters of Urban Restain Monterrey, N.L.

Mexico´s Housing Policy National Housing Policy 2017 2012 36sq m 48sq m Today every house built has 2 rooms and subsidies are allocated to increase density & vertical housing options to guarantee sustainable urban development.

NAMA for the Housing Sector National Urban & Housing Policy NAMA for the Housing Sector Mexico is the first country in the world in the context of a Nationally appropriated mitigation action (NAMA) to implement a policy of sustainability focused on social housing. More than 67´000 NAMA houses have been built. They reduce over 20% of GHG emissions compared to conventional housing. This homes will reduce over 2,436,000 tons of CO2 emissions throughout its life cycle (40 years). Every $1,000 USD invested in sustainable technologies can mitigate up to 300 CO2 kg annually. The Green Mortgage Program has brought the price of solar water heaters down to 40% of their original cost.

Territorial Vision against Climate Change National Urban & Housing Policy Territorial Vision against Climate Change BRT System Urban NAMA Strategy to promote sustainable development in available and underused urban land Consolidation of Urban Areas and Housing Regeneration Initiative to subsidize the acquisition of centrally-located land

National Urban & Housing Policy Urban NAMA Pilot Project The first Urban NAMA Pilot has been designed in coordination with the private sector, pursuing significant goals of CO2 emissions mitigation. The project is a social housing development located in Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas. Alongside the border between Mexico and the United States. Housing units integrated eco-technologies for low energy consumption and grey water treatment, WATER TREATMENT PLANTE (SEWAGE AND GREY WATER SYSTEM) LED PUBLIC LIGHTING SOLID WASTE MANEGEMENT TRANSPORT / MOBILITY

An Inclusive Housing policy National Urban & Housing Policy Since the 1st of dec of 2016 More than 25 thousand housing actions PRIORITIZED SUBSIDY FOR VULNERABLE GROUPS: WOMEN, YOUNG ADULTS, SENIOR CITIZENS, DISABLED PEOPLE, MIGRANTS & WOMEN VICTIMS OF VIOLENCE. MIGRANTS NEW PROGRAM
