Presentation transcript:

Malcolm X was born on May 19th 1925 as Malcolm Little in Omaha, Nebraska was an US-American politician and revolutionist his father died after being attacked by the Ku Klux Klan when Malcolm was 6 years old in 1941 he decided to move to his half-sister‘s house located in Boston

he became a shoeshine boy and held his head above water by doing several other jobs, e.g. working as a waiter but soon he was involved in criminal businesses like gambling and drug trafficking in 1948 he was sentenced to a prison sentence of 8 years while serving his penalty, he studied the theories of the „Black Muslims“, a sect which was founded in the early 1930s this sect followed an anti-white ideology and praised the segregation

- in 1952 he was set free and dropped his last name in favor of a simple X - this X was a symbol of his unknown african origin - during the 1950s Malcolm became a famous speaker and made the Black Muslims to be one of the most famous organisations in the black ghettos - in 1963 he founded the nationalist "Organization of Afro-American Unity" (OAAU) - hereafter, he was excluded from the Black Muslims

one year later he travelled through Africa and Europe twice during these travels Malcolm realized that the only way for a peaceful living would be a conciliation between the two races - Malcolm X was assassinated by black fanatics on February 21st 1965 while holding a speech on an OAAU assembly - these men were said to be in contact with the Black Muslims
