Nothing but mercy

“Nothing But Mercy — a Private Room Please “Nothing But Mercy — a Private Room Please!” is a Black History Month play that shares the little-known story of how Mercy Hospital was integrated in 1947.

'Nothing But Mercy' tells story of integration of Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City The play is being presented at Metropolitan Library System libraries in central Oklahoma.

“Nothing But Mercy” is essentially about the confrontation between a nurse and the nun and, on a deeper level, the conflict between the unjust Jim Crow laws of that time and the laws of God followed by the Sisters of Mercy. And it all started when a black woman asked if her husband could have a private room.
