Integrated navigation system is our next project for this venture. Using ArcGIS Online to Reduce Complexity, Increase Transparency, And Boost Functionality Bryan Krietea, Matt Priceb aVector Control Employee, County Of Santa Cruz bGIS Manager, County of Santa Cruz Background 1994: Santa Cruz County Mosquito & Vector Control (SCCMVC) began using ArcGIS Desktop to locate, manage, and analyze mosquito breeding sites. 2004: The County was divided into 5 service zones, each with a zone technician and ArcGIS seat. Each technician was responsible for creating their own maps, layers, and attribute tables, as well as any analysis tools. 2011: The individualized approach grew increasingly difficult to manage and challenging to change. There was a need to simplify and streamline the process, as well as a desire to add a mobile device program to the workflow. 2015: Transitioned from ArcGIS Desktop to ArcGIS Online system. External Outcomes Field View - Current - Mobile devices running a suite of programs uniting data collection, data entry, navigation, and analysis. Survey 1-2-3 App This app allows us to enter site data in customizable forms. Collector App The blue lines are creeks. The yellow line identifies an access trail. Collector App We can pull up treatment history of any site allowing for proper action. Collector App We can re-measure a site polygon by walking it to collect points. Internal Outcomes Technicians and management are able to analyze all zones concurrently using standardized terms and symbology. Trap data (species, count, and location) is overlaid with breeding site data to determine efficacy of treatments. Design builds (apps, widgets, and themes) are consumed by all users from a single publishing source. Centralized dispatch and routing operations lead to a simpler and more efficient workflow. Data enrichment variables (age, population, and income) allow pinpointing of populations most vulnerable to disease transmission. Integrated navigation system is our next project for this venture. Public View - Future - Integrated GIS maps on our website providing real-time updated data, clickable points, and Storymaps. Management View - Future - Operations dashboard allows all aspects of the mosquito abatement program to be monitored in real time. Process Optimize MS Access database for migration to SQL Server. Develop standard coding and terminology for all zones. Combine all zone layers into a set of county wide layers. Build ArcGIS Online environment using Webmaps and Webapp builder. Respond to needs and concerns of users. Publish feature layers off a map server feature service. Develop a stored procedure to create an ArcGIS Online layer which shows the current state of breeding sources based on data entry into the SQL database. Train users on new system including workarounds to perceived loss of functionality.
