The Hertfordshire Headteacher Updates June 2017 Safeguarding Update Marcus Cooper Senior Education Manager

Safeguarding in Hertfordshire To date over 490 schools have booked onto the ‘Headteacher Safeguarding Course’. This will now be certificated. The final session is on the afternoon of the 4th of July 2017 The Safeguarding Portal is currently being constructed and should be ready in the next few weeks. DBS ‘risk assessments’ continue to be of variable quality

Safeguarding in Hertfordshire Foci for this term: Revise your risk assessments in school, especially in relation to the site. Fire safety in school, fire drills, extinguisher rates, escape routes clear etc. Asbestos – ensure your register is available and up to date. ‘Control and scope’ are in place. Ensure your emergency systems and ‘lock-down’ processes are clear and well known to staff.
