Industrial Hygiene and Safety TTG Activities Updated DOE-HDBK-1139- Chemical Management Volume 3 of 3 (September 30, 2016) Intended for DOE facilities and external entities. Updated content (e.g., NFPA 400, new HazCom requirements, new definitions), uniform chapter format, quick source references and documents. Develop a listing and description of data elements for exposure assessment that should be documented in formal records and communicated to workers and management (October 1, 2016) Intended for contractor industrial hygiene staff and subtier contractors with a goal of reporting consistency across the DOE complex. Reports include those for employees and management. Listing and description of data elements. Industrial Hygiene and Safety TTG Activities, continued Guidance on the application of physical agent TLVs (i.e. ergonomic, heat stress,...) (September 15, 2016) Ergonomic Intended for contractor ergonomists/industrial hygienists and workforce. Goal is to clarify ACGIH Threshold Limit Value (TLV) wording for lifting, and provide guidance for types of lifting not explicitly covered. Training and implementation materials for an implementing Lifting TLV at DOE/NNSA sites. Heat Stress Intended for contractor industrial hygienists and workforce with the goal of successful ACGIH Threshold Limit Value (TLV) heat stress implementation. Identification of requirements and changes in ACGIH Heat Stress TLV. Information on common terminology or activities (e.g. boiler maintenance). Identify low risk to high risk work activities. Gather control information for workers. Perform “Detailed Analysis” for select work activities. Identify physiological monitoring techniques / guidance material.

Includes best practices/lessons learned on security Coordinating efforts with Occupational Medicine TTG: Benchmark heat stress hazard control and provide best practice recommendations Benchmark heavy lifting limit best practices Develop Best Practices for Improved IHS/OM Coordination (September 15, 2016)

Identifying different types of leading indicator programs within and outside the Complex Strategies for choosing PPE When trying to select PPE for protection from multiple hazards, what is your procedure/process Cross training Safety and IH practitioners Are sites cross training practitioners so that work can be covered by one person with skills in both disciplines. Should site procedures be available for use on an accessible (not secure) webpage. Would allow sites across the complex to easily look at other sites procedures and help them in the developing or review process. This is a potential cost savings for DOE Establish a central location to locate safety shares. One thought is the EFCOG webpage. Having a database with safety shares would be helpful, not only to the S&H practitioners but to all employees seeking ideas for safety shares. Identifying different types of leading indicator programs within and outside the Complex Providing the reader with a process/procedure/program that is implementable Assist the reader in developing statistical models and create dashboards for management.
