Presentation transcript:

It’s That Time! EOG’s are Here! Focus: 1. Sit in the same seat as Friday. 2. Get your EOG moment from Friday from the side table. 3. If you didn’t finish, get your copy (it has an * on it), and finish.

It’s That Time! EOG’s are Here! Let’s review answers we got wrong

EOG’s are Here! Words/things to remember: The Top Five: 1. Mark up the text (take notes, highlight)- something that will help you interact with the text while you are reading. 2. Read the questions CAREFULLY! As you get older, one word in a question can really make a difference. Also, read ALL answer choices. 3. Be wary of answer choices with the words ALWAYS, NEVER, ALL, NONE, or ONLY. 4. Remember that THEME can be applied to life and is UNIVERSAL. 5. Remember a SUMMARY should include a beginning, middle and end.

EOG’s are Here! Words/things to remember: The Next Top Five: 1. TONE = them… MOOD = me 2. Poems require EFFORT- read between the lines and don’t rush! 3. On double passages, you can always read the first one and answer the questions specific to that passage before reading the second one. 4. Structural questions require you to know genres (i.e. plays are written to be performed, narratives are written to tell a story, rhyme is used to create rhythm.) 5. An author’s purpose is NEVER to CONFUSE or FRUSTRATE the reader.

EOG’s are Here! The Prize: Goals: 1. Mark up the text (on EVERY passage) 2. Get a four or a five. Do better than you did last year. (that means no matter how hard you tried last year, you have to try even HARDER this year!) Rewards: 1. Pizza! TWO slices! 2. Drop your lowest grade in ELA. 3. 10 points added to your exit project!

EOG’s are Here! Thinking of you! Peppermints: 1. Unwrap them ahead of time so you don’t make noise. 2. Keep the baggie in your pocket so you don’t drop it or get your paper sticky. Quietly eat a peppermint when you need a pick me up! Stones: 1. Put it on your desk or keep it in your pocket. 2. Remember that the stone means I am watching you, but also that I have faith in your abilities! 3. Use the stone as a reminder of all the things we reviewed (and of the goals and rewards!)

EOG Review Online If you are interested in doing one more passage tonight/tomorrow night for review, go on my website in the “Find Your Attached Files Here” tab, and find the PowerPoint for Another Way to Weigh and Elephant. The passage (a play), 7 questions, and the answers are on the PPT.

Exit Project! Don’t forget! Your paper should be done by this Friday. You should be thinking about and working on your visual component for your presentation. WEDNESDAY you will sign up for rooms, so start determining who you want to present with (both my classes). You will get ONE class period guaranteed to work in class this week, so WORK ON IT AT HOME AS WELL!!!
