Blessed Efrosini

Blessed Efrosini Blessed Efrosini was the only daughter and very rich. One day, she handed all her belongings to the poor and secretly left home. After a lot of adventures she came, disguised as a man, to a commune male monastery. There, she took the name Smaragdos and all the monks admired her spiritual fight and the ministry that willingly offered to all. She lived in the monastery for 38 years. With her life Efrosini reminds us of the Bible words saying: “deny the desires of this vain and sinful world to live in this century with temperance in oyr lives, with justice to our fellow men and piety to God”.

Saint Paraskevi Saint Paraskevi is the holy Orthodox and Catholic church and considered the protector of the eyes. He lived in Rome in the 2nd century and suffered martyrdom on days of Emperor Marcus Aurelius. At age 20 he became orphaned from both parents, which made it heir 'property, which he disposed of by allocating the money to the poor and sick. intensively worked on the mission, the city of Rome and the surrounding area, teaching Christianity in-home to people of weak social groups. Saint Paisios Arsenios Eznepidis was born in Pharasa, Cappadocia in 1924 and he came with his family to Konitsa, Epirus. He always wanted to became a monk. In 1953 he went to Mount Athos and in 1958 to Stomio, Larissa where he stayed until 1964, In 1964 he came back to Mount Athos until his death on 1994. Every day dozens of people came to get his blessing. His memory is celebrated on July 12th .

Saint Demetrius St. Demetrius the Myrrh gusher was born in Thessaloniki. He was a brilliant officer of the Roman army. He was killed because of his faith in the same place where a church dedicated to him stands today. For centuries myrrh was gushing out of his tomb. He is wearing a military uniform and a green tunic. His memory is celebrated on October 26th .

Saint Marina St Marina was born in Asia Minor. Her parents were pagans. From an early age she was baptized Christian. When the local ruler called her to account she confessed her faith to Christ. After a lot of tortures she was beheaded. She is wearing a red garment. Her memory is celebrated on July 17th .
