Time to get thinking….. If aggression was found to be caused by our biology, what would society look like? Families Schools Hospitals Justice systems Human rights

Your key question…. What are the implications for society if aggression is found to be caused by nature not nurture?

(A01) Describe State your key question? What research evidence can be used from the specification content to refute or dispute the relevance of the key question for today’s society?

Warning… In the exam you may be given stimulus material to explain using the concepts and ideas from the Biological Approach. Make sure you know how to APPLY theories and studies to real life situations. Eddo up to the age of two was a good child, not really any trouble for his parents and fun to be with. At around the age of two years, he began to show much less willingness to share toys and became very aggressive if another child tried to take a toy he was playing with. He also became angry when something did not work or when he wanted something and it was not given. This was new to his parents. He would still play with them happily, eat his food and enjoy going out on trips. They tried to reason with him to stop his aggression and they tried to reward him for non-aggressive behaviour when playing with other children, but nothing worked. His tantrums remained. Using concepts and theories from the biological approach, explain Endo’s aggression and whether he is responsible for it. (8)

In terms of AO2: • What theories can be used from the specification content to explain the key question? • How can the theories explain how the key question developed in today’s society? • How can the theories explain how to reduce or possibly eliminate the impact of the key question on today’s society? • Are there any concepts from the specification content that can explain the key question in today’s society? In terms of AO3: • What research evidence can be used from the specification content to support or provide evidence for the key question? • What research evidence can be used from the specification content to refute or dispute the relevance of the key question for today’s society? • Are there any methodological flaws in the supporting evidence which could lead to it being questionable support for the key question?
