The Phases of the Moon By : Jordan R.

New Moon When there is a New Moon, when you look at the sky, it is clear and has nothing in the sky.

Waxing Crescent Moon A Waxing Crescent Moon is shaped like a banana. When it is waxing, it is turned to the right.

Waxing First Quarter (Half Moon) The Waxing First Quarter looks like it is the half of a Full Moon. It is straight, but is right.

Waxing Gibbous Moon When you see a Waxing Gibbous Moon, it looks like ¾ of a Full Moon. When it is waxing, it is turned to the right.

Waxing Full Moon When you see a Full Moon, you see a circle shaded in. Even though it is waxing, it is not turned to the right.

Waning Crescent Moon When you see a Waning Crescent Moon, it looks like a banana. When it is waning, it is turned to the left.

Waning First Quarter (Half Moon) When you see a First Quarter it looks like it is half of a Full Moon. When it is waning, it is straight, but is left.

Waning Gibbous Moon When you see a Gibbous Moon, it looks like it is ¾ if a Full Moon. When it is waning, it is turned to the left.

Fun Fact A fun fact about the moon is it takes about a month for the new moon to again become a new moon! That is a long time!
