What influence have child maintenance benefits, together with gender income equality, had on allocation of couples income to needs of the: father ? mother ? children? Other Research Questions: How is consumption division of Icelandic households and their main determinants impacted by the current economic recession in Iceland? Value It is important to measure if child maintenance benefits truly increase the welfare of children, and whether it matters towards which family member child maintenance benefits are directed. By applying this approach, it is possible to determine interaction between individual household members. Therefore, it is referred to as intra household research. Also, an application of this approach provides a unique opportunity to compare private and public goods within Icelandic household, and compare Icelandic households to foreign households. The data applied be expected to provide more detailed information about intra-household behaviour than extant research in the field.
