Aesthetics Aesthetically pleasing means to present in a way that appeals to the sense The food should look good, smell good, and appear appealing enough to eat

1) Utensils NO!! The utensils you use should be appealing to the eye Plates, utensils and napkins should be clean and appropriate NO!! Yes!

2) Selecting a Plate Size The plate should be appropriately sized for the food items The plate should not be too full or too empty NO!! Yes!

3) Use a decorative design for sauces If the dish has a sauce, don’t just slop it on- Make a beautiful design http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BL-kZktRObY

4) Consider the audience Make sure you know what is appealing to your audience Appealing to a kid is different than appealing to an adult

5) Vary the color of the foods Your food should not be monochromatic Yes! NO!!

8) Vary the size or shape of your food All of the foods should not be the same size or shape Vary circles, squares, etc.

9) Vary the texture You do not want every item to be crunchy, mushy or liquid. You should vary the way each food feels- the texture Too mushy!
