WHAT IS A COMPUTER A COMPUTER IS AN ELECTRONIC MACHINE THAT OPERATES BY FOLLOWING A SET OF INSTRUCTION. A COMPUTER ACCCEPTS DATA FROM AN INPUT DEVICE ,PROCESSES IT INTO USEFUL INFORMATION AND DISPLAY IT ON THE OUTPUT DIVICE .

TYPES OF COMPUTER SERVER LAPTOP WORKSTATION TABLET SUPERCOMPUTER MAINFRAME

MONITOR he monitor is the piece of computer hardware that displays the video and graphics information generated by the computer through the video card. Monitors are very similar to televisions but usually display information at a much higher resolution. Also unlike televisions, monitors are not usually mounted on a wall but instead sit atop a desk.

KEYBOARD he keyboard is the piece of computer hardware used to input text, characters, and other commands into a computer or similar device. Even though the keyboard is an external peripheral device in a desktop system (it sits outside the main computer housing), or is "virtual" in a tablet PC, it is an essential part of the complete computer system. Microsoft and Logitech are the probably the most popular physical keyboard manufacturers, but many other hardware makers also produce them.

MOUSE A computer mouse is a pointing device that detects two- dimensional motion relative to a surface. This motion is typically translated into the motion

CPU A central processing unit (CPU) is the electronic circuitry within a computer that carries out the instructions of a computer program by performing the basic arithmetic, logical, control and input/output (I/O) operations specified by the instructions.

Characteristics of computer SPEED PRECISION REALIBILITY VERSATILITY MEMORY

SPEED The general term, computer speed, refers to CPU clock speed. This is how fast the CPU operates, usually measured in gigahertz (GHz). One gigahertz is equal to 1 billion hertz, or cycles per second. So a 1 GHz computer has a CPU that operates at 1 billion cycles per second.

PRECISION In computer science, the precision of a numerical quantity is a measure of the detail in which the quantity is expressed. This is usually measured in bits, but sometimes in decimal digits. It is related to precision in mathematics, which describes the number of digits that are used to express a value

REALIBILTY Reliability is an attribute of any computer-related component (software, or hardware, or a network, for example) that consistently performs according to its specifications. It has long been considered one of three related attributes that must be considered when making, buying, or using a computer product or component

VERSATILITY Computers are versatile machines and are capable of performing any task as long as it can be broken down into a series of logical steps.

MEMORY Computer memory is any physical device capable of storing information temporarily or permanently. For example, Random Access Memory (RAM), is a volatile memory that stores information on an integrated circuit used by the operating system, software, and hardware.
