Objectives By the end of this session, school leaders will engage stakeholders by sharing pertinent data connected to school performance goals By the end of this session, school leaders will engage in ongoing collaboration with stakeholders to increase awareness of their roles in the partnership for acquiring student achievement

Teachers Are Stakeholders, Too!

What Teachers Are Saying! “Teachers at my school share a common vision of what effective teaching looks like.” “The expectations for effective teaching are clearly defined at my school.” “My school is committed to improving my instructional practice.”

Six Ways Leadership Actions can transform relationships with Teachers Give them space Nurture greatness Respect them Challenge them Give them the tools to succeed Pay them what they deserve

What Teachers Look Like on Payday If you want good teachers to continue giving their all, make sure they can afford to do so. Teacher incentives

Join Them!! As the instructional leader of your school goals must be set and all stakeholders must be challenged to reach the goal. Teachers need to know that you would not tell them to do something that you wouldn’t do. The best way to show teachers this is by getting back in the classroom and modeling what you expect. You’re the instructional leader for a reason

Students Are Stakeholders, Too!

FOUR Leadership Actions that transformed our relationships with our students Join Them! Class visits have to be more than for observation and evaluation 2. The Translation Conversation! Students need to understand just what the DATA means for them 3. Action Planning! Helping students to self-reflect and create goals increase the personal responsibility they take for their learning 4. The Check-In! Inspecting what you expect

Stepping into their shoes Join Them Stepping into their shoes Plan to spend time in the classroom alongside students as a student for the period Participate actively in the learning being sure to engage with students as a fellow classmate Reflect on the experience in order to enhance meaningful conversations with students

The Translation Conversation! Do students REALLY know what the data means? Identify students who are struggling or may be having difficulty in a specific class/discipline Analyze student data to identify trends in student performance Connect performance to student’s future ambitions during meaningful conversation (make it plain and simple)

Action Planning! Coach students in the process of self-reflection and goal setting Engage students in the process of identifying solutions to issues and problems Collaborate with students to create realistic steps of action and strategies to measure progress

Your actions have to be THE constant! The Check-In! Your actions have to be THE constant! Be genuine and intentional in your follow-up actions Hold students accountable for holding themselves to a higher standard Observe students to secure evidence for follow-up conversations Celebrate ALL progress

STAND UP---HAND UP----PAIR UP Participants will discuss strategies for improving student involvement as stakeholders on campus GUIDING QUESTION: How can school leaders empower students as stakeholders on campus?

The Importance of Data School wide goals need to be established Once the goal is established some sort of data tool should be implemented. This tool will be used to spark factual conversations about where students are and where they need to be. Administration and instructors need to have data driven conversations with students daily.(This information will be based on classroom assessments and quarterly benchmark results.) Enjoy the growth!
