Exodus 15:22-16:3; 16:11-17; 16:30-36. Numbers 10:29 – 11:35

Some points to remember: “Nevertheless, with most of them God was not well-pleased; for they were laid low in the wilderness. Now these things happened as examples for us, so that we would not crave evil things as they also craved” 1 Corinthians 10:5-6.

Two Incidents: Side by Side The Preview: - The unspecified grumbling. - The intercession of Moses. The Full Blown Crisis: - The specific grumbling. - The grumbling of Moses. - The Spirit of Strength. - The Spirit of Judgment. - The memorial name.

A Beginning of things to come . . A warning. Total grumbling. Spreading disease. Unbelief. Where is faith? Moses catches the disease. Judgment with grace. Shared leadership.

Mt Horeb [Sinai] Psalm 78:15-16: “He split the rocks in the wilderness, and gave them abundant drink like the ocean depths; He brought forth streams also from the rock, and caused waters to run down like rivers.”

God with us . . .

“mixed Multitude” επιμικος “Now the sons of Israel journeyed from Rameses to Succoth, about six hundred thousand men on foot, aside from children. A mixed multitude also went up with them” Exodus 12:37-38. ערבבברב אספסף “mixed Multitude” επιμικος “rabble” επιμικος

How long of a journey? “It is eleven days’ journey from Horeb by the way of Mount Seir to Kadesh-barnea” Deuteronomy 1:2.

-------------------- How long of a journey? “It is eleven days’ journey from Horeb by the way of Mount Seir to Kadesh-barnea” Deuteronomy 1:2. -------------------- “Now the people became like those who complain of adversity in the hearing of the Lord” Numbers 11:1. Who will give us meat to eat? Numbers 11:4. “Then Miriam and Aaron spoke against Moses” Numbers 12:1. “Let us appoint a leader and return to Egypt” Numbers 14:4.

Some points to remember: First Impressions, Divine sifting: - Isaiah 5:1-6. - “Therefore, let us fear if, while a promise remains of entering His rest, any one of you may seem to have come short of it. For indeed we have had good news preached to us, just as they also; but the word they heard did not profit them, because it was not united by faith in those who heard” Hebrews 4:1-2.

Another Prophet “Moses said, ‘The Lord God will raise up for you a prophet like me from your brethren; to Him you shall give heed to everything He says to you’” Acts 3:22.

The Holy Spirit “And suddenly there came from heaven a noise like a violent rushing wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. And there appeared to them tongues as of fire distributing themselves, and they rested on each one of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit was giving them utterance” Acts 2:2-4.

Soli Deo Gloria!!!
