HISTORY PROFESSOR

What is a history Professor you ask? A history professor is someone who works at a university. They teach history to the students in lecture halls. You have to know general history very well. You must be exciting but still be informative to keep your class interested. Not only do you teach classes but you also do research within the university. You do tons of research becoming an expert on special topics. To become a professor however you first must become an introductory level professor for 3 or 4 years then you will either be granted a place as a full professor or dismissed from the university. The most important thing of being a professor is your field of teaching. You have to know everything there is to know about history; you might become a professor in a specific time in history to be more precise in their teaching. However, everything though is in the university’s hands, they can fire you or promote or send you on research trips, whatever they want so you have to make a great impression in your research and in your lectures. However becoming a history is not easy and takes many, many years or university first. When you are a professor you also have to be at an administrative level at the university, which means attending meetings and are encouraged to give public lectures.

What do I need to become a History Professor? The minimum I need to become a professor, is a master’s degree in history. Most people who want to become a history earn a bachelors degree first, and then learn, all about geography, major history events and cultural history. To earn I master’s degree the coursework includes, class studies, lectures and research. Not all programs but most require a thesis upon completion, and others include mandatory field work or research seminars. That however is only for 2-4 years at a university.

Skills to become a History professor You need many skills to become a history professor, first you need to interesting and charming you can’t be boring and drone on about the subject you have to interest your students. Two, you have to be able to be patient. If one of your students does not understand the topic, explain it to them and don’t get impatient and frustrated. Finally you have to love what you do, you can’t teach a class if you hate it or else you want only ruin it for yourself but also for the students. So if you want to become a professor you have to love history.

Why I am suited for this career I think I am very well suited for this career because I love history and everything about, not only that I would love teaching and spending time doing research in libraries and discovering new things about the past, because that way I can understand the future. Also I am charming and humorous and still informative, I think I would be a good professor, I don’t think the students would get bored in my classes and I hope the university would be impressed.

What interests me The thing that interests me most is the history, I love learning about the past, learning about what they did hundreds of years ago, I want to know battle tactics, weaponry, what they ate, how their houses were built and I want to share that knowledge with the rest of the world by becoming a professor. I also enjoy the fact that will get a pension for when I retire, this means I will still get paid even after I have stopped working because this is a government job. Plus the average salary for a history professor is like 60,000 dollars but it is different for 2 year professors to 4 year professors and private universities and public ones.
