Referrals to CAMHS Who can refer? We accept referrals from any professional including 3rd sector organisations. We also accept self referrals For school/college based issues it is preferable if the school/college make the referral We do not prioritise GP referrals Harming acts as a safety valve. My head often feels like a pressure cooker, I can feel

Who Is In The Team? Psychiatry Psychology Nurse specialists Psychotherapists Mental Health Practitioners Primary Mental Health Workers

Tier System Tier 1 – universal services Tier 2 –specialist but usually uni-professional. PMHWs sit in Tier 2 Tier 3 – specialist multi-professional CAMHS Tier 4 – specialist in-patient and Urgent help Services

What happens when a new referral is made? Referrals are triaged daily They may be accepted or redirected. We are always happy to discuss redirected referrals with the referrer or young person/carers Research tells us that nationally the norm is that 33% of referrals are redirected

Accepted Referrals Once a referral is accepted an initial appointment is arranged. This is called a Choice appointment and is the start of the assessment process. Our standard is to offer this within 4 weeks of referral but if this is not possible then a telephone consultation will take place. The assessment can take place over 1-6 sessions.

After Assessment Once the assessment is completed: The young person may be referred internally for therapeutic support or a specific assessment eg ADHD/ASC The case may be closed with no further action The case may be redirected to a more appropriate service 33% of cases initially referred will need further support

Service Provision We can provide: Assessment Diagnosis Therapy including systemic family therapy and group work Consultation Training Prescribing

Crisis Intervention Some young people present in a crisis. This is typically at A & E following an overdose or other serious form of self harm but may be in other circumstances.
