Crumbs! I’ve mixed the love potion with the stink potion! Hubble Bubble! Crumbs! I’ve mixed the love potion with the stink potion! Ron has accidentally mixed two potions together! How would you separate two liquids that had been mixed together? Clue: they have different boiling points. Better sort it out mate!

You might want to try Distillation… How to separate two liquids based on their boiling points!

Distillation What do we call the process? Liquid to Gas? Gas to liquid?

Potion A: Boiling point 220 oC Which one will evaporate first? Potion A: Boiling point 220 oC Potion B: Boiling point 160 oC

Potion A: Boiling point 220 oC Which one will evaporate first? Potion A: Boiling point 220 oC Potion B: Boiling point 160 oC The lower the boiling point, the quicker the liquid will evaporate

Evaporation Condensation Add these words: Mixture of liquids Round bottom flask Heat Thermometer Cold water In Water out Leibig condenser Pure liquid Evaporation Condensation   happens?

Thermometer Water out Condensation Round bottom flask Leibig Condenser Evaporation Cold water in Heat Pure liquid

Crumbs! I’ve mixed the love potion with the stink potion! Explain to Ron how to separate the potions using distillation keywords: boiling point, liquids, separate, Energy, particles, condense, evaporate, leibig condenser water Hint: Use a spell to keep the temperature at the lowest boiling point. Better sort it out mate!
