Healthgrain Forum (www.healthgrain.org) 5/30/2018 Healthgrain Forum (www.healthgrain.org) Founded in May 2010 to continue promotion of science and communication for production and consumption of healthy cereal foods, as a follow-up of the EU HEALTHGRAIN project In August 2016, 47 members from 19 countries, whereof 29 from academia and institutes and18 from companies A board and three task forces – Nutrition, Technology and Communication & Regulatory to plan the activities and have telemeetings at regular basis Two annual workshops for members to interact with each other and to discuss joint plans and needs of action

HGF Task Forces and Working Groups current activities 5/30/2018 HGF Task Forces and Working Groups current activities A definition for whole-grain food – recommendations from the Healthgrain Forum – developed in Working Group, agreed by all HGF members, submitted Aug. 2016 (chair: Dr Alastair Ross) A quantitative dietary recommendation for Whole Grain – Start of Working Group 2nd half 2016 (chair: prof. Chris Seal). Effects of processing on dietary fibre in cereal foods – Literature review guided by Working Group (chair: prof Kati Katina). Sprouted grains, health effects, toxicology and technological benefits. New Working Group – start autumn 2016. Meta-analysis of data dealing with the effect of wholegrain on blood pressure (systolic and diastolic). Work done in Working Group – needs to be completed and published.
