The context

In the beginning Local context Understanding the issues: National context – National Cancer Strategy and NHS Five Year Forward View Aspirational Challenging but achievable Appealing to the market Understanding the issues: Public Engagement Clinical Engagement Commissioner perspective – shared vision Bringing it all together Co-design of the outcomes framework

Maggie’s story The mobile unit was in my hometown of Leek at that time and I went along for a test Three months after my breast operation it was apparent that something new was happening.  At each hospital visit I drew attention to this and it took 9 months for someone to listen - they then sent me for a biopsy which confirmed Morphea - No one knew what to do! I sat there in silence, tears dripping down my chin When my consultant came back from maternity leave I saw her and I cried. I was so relieved to see her

“Systems are not joined up and it is too easy to fall through gaps “Systems are not joined up and it is too easy to fall through gaps. My husband says he wonders what would happen to someone who wasn’t as confident as I am and didn’t have the support that I have.”

We have experience of the current system and recognise the need for a radical change in the way services are co-ordinated.”
