Steps to Register Go to CC website and register. Await for student ID# If your student has special needs, contact the Disabled Students Program & Services office Take placement test (may be exempted) Attend Orientation Meet with a counselor to create a semester plan Register for classes FAFSA application before March 2nd
Placement Test All seniors must take the placement test in order to register for classes (see college website for exceptions). Seniors must first register online and receive their campus ID# in order to register for the placement test. The English, ESL, and math tests are not "pass or fail." They measure proficiency in English and math to determine proper placement. It is very important that students take this seriously. -There are restrictions on re-testing. Test sessions are 2.5-3 hours in length. -English and math tests are in the the same session.
College Boost is back effective: 10/11-11/30, 1/10-3/2 and 3/28-5/5 Located in the library Tu & Thu 1:00 – 3:30 Wed 11:45- 2:30 (Always available during lunch!) CSU/UC/Private Schools SAT/ACT Requirements All CSU’s, UC’s and most private schools require the SAT OR ACT A few select majors such as Engineering may require SAT II’s. Make sure you are aware of what you need Upcoming SAT dates are Nov 5 and Dec 3 (CSU: SD,SJ and SLO will not take Dec) Upcoming ACT dates are Oct 22 and Dec 10 (CSU: SD,SJ and SLO will not take Dec) If you plan to take the December SAT or ACT check to make sure your college accepts it SAT sign up = www.collegeboard.org ACT sign up = www.actstudent.org Fee waivers are available at the guidance office. Factors to consider when choosing a college Size - What is the total student population? What is the average class size? Location - Where is the school located? Urban, suburban, rural Academics - What majors and degrees are offered? Sports/Social Activities - What clubs, student organizations, sororities, and fraternities do they have? What types of athletic teams do they have? Cost - What is the total cost including tuition, room and board, books and other student fees? What types of financial aid are available?
How do I pay for college???
FAFSA-www.fafsa.ed.gov It became available October 1st and is due March 2nd Everybody is encouraged to fill it out regardless of income as it will determine if you are eligible for grants, scholarships and/or loans at each individual campus. The Calgrant applications should also be submitted before March 2nd as well to compliment the FAFSA. FAFSA will send your info to colleges you listed and once you have selected your school you will get a financial aid offer from them
