Presentation transcript:

Noninvasive measurement of blood pressure Noninvasive measurement of blood pressure. In the auscultatory method, systolic and diastolic pressures are determined by the beginning and end of Korotkoff sounds. In the oscillometric technique, the mean blood pressure is the primary measured variable, determined as the point of maximal oscillations in cuff -pressure. The exact algorithm used to determine systolic and diastolic pressures varies. [Reproduced with permission of the author from Geddes LA. Cardiovascular Devices and Their Applications.
