CUP CSE 1111 Week 9

CUP (Computer Use Proficiency) Internet / Email: Select one of the Internet search engines (e.g., Yahoo, AltaVista, Lycos). Select a topic and search for information on that topic on the Internet. It may take some experimentation to get a search string that yields the results you want. When you have found some useful web pages, then create a Word file containing your name, the name of the search engine you used, all the search strings you used, and a list of 6 URLs at which you found useful information. CSE 1111 Week 9

CUP And ---- For each URL in that list, write a few sentences about what you find at that web site. And ---- For each URL in that list, EVALUATE what you find at that web site. And ---- For one of the URLs in that list, copy something (some text, a picture, etc) from the actual web site, and paste that material directly into your file … being sure label it as to which site it came from. CSE 1111 Week 9

CUP Then send that Word file as an attachment to an email message sent as follows: Send to: cse1111b @ cse.uta.edu Subject line: Internet/email – your name This is Homework #3 --- due by 3/27 --- questions? See Dr. Peterson after class CSE 1111 Week 9

CUP Topic? It makes most sense to use the topic of your group’s presentation. But other topics are OK too. CSE 1111 Week 9

CUP Evaluate? See the CSE 1111 “Course Page” accessed from the Library’s home page to see a list of 5 evaluation criteria for a web site. CSE 1111 Week 9
