BELL, 2/24 Bell – Open the website, pull up today’s slide show, follow this link: http://quizlet.com/_m0cy9 Study – we will retake the quiz in a few moments.

24 February: Today, you will… CCSS.ELA-Literacy. RL4 Demonstrate an understanding of the development of theme, character, and plot by… Discussing chapters 13-16. Identifying Atticus’s character traits Selecting evidence that proves those traits true

Chapters 13-16 Review   Children go to First Purchase church with Calpurnia. Aunt Alexandra arrives. Aunt Alexandra entertains Maycomb’s ladies. Dill returns to Maycomb. The Old Sarum mob tries to lynch Tom. Scout intervenes and unwittingly saves him. The trial begins. The children sit in the black people’s balcony.

Atticus… What kind of man is Atticus? What evidence is there to back that up?

Write paragraph using this starter - In the play “Romeo and Juliet”, Romeo is a teenager who is deeply sentimental. In Act 1, Sc 1 Romeo and his cousin Benvolio are walking about the town square when Benvolio asks Romeo why he has been sad for so long a time. Romeo responds by stating he is “out of her favour, where I am in love.” Romeo is referring to the fact that the girl he has strong feelings for does not have the same feeling for him therefore he cannot be happy. The sadness he displays and his declaration of love are both expressions of his personal feelings which in turn proves his sentimentality.

Write paragraph using this starter - In the novel To Kill a Mockingbird, Atticus Finch is a _______________ man. Thoroughly explain what is happening in the play. Give enough detail that it makes sense to someone who has not read the book. Lead into your quote, “Give your quote” (CHP: pg). Explain what your quote proves and how. Tie it back in to your first sentence. Make certain you explain HOW your evidence proves your trait to be true.
