Dr. Sarah’s What is a Mathematician Logistics Review

Presentation Guidelines PowerPoint Presentation 15-22 minutes long concentrate on the mathematics but also address the segment themes counts as an exam grade - follow the presentation checklist and Powerpoint sheet. manipulatives work well, but posters or complicated PowerPoint slides do not. present the mathematics (answers to your questions) very slowly - remember that it took a while for the material to sink in as you are planning your pace for the class.

PowerPoint Presentation Logistics computer file (blah.ppt) sent as an attachment on the WebCT bulletin board your responsibility to make sure it is received bring a disk in with your presentation to school just in case, but can’t load the file from the disk in class - no disk drive on the computer create notes or index cards of things that you plan to say or write on the board - turn these in when your presentation is finished

Worksheet Logistics - First Draft Bring copies to hand out by the end of your presentation. First draft is worth 50% of the worksheet grade, which counts as a major writing assignment. (I am happy to give you preliminary feedback if you bring a draft into office hours). I will make photocopies for you if the completed worksheet is given to me in office hours the day before. Follow the directions on the segment guidelines and worksheet checklist and use mine as models.

Worksheet - Final Version The final version of the worksheet is worth 50% of the worksheet grade and must use Dr. Sarah’s and the classes suggestions for improvement. Must be turned in (blah.doc or rich text format blah.rtf) as a computer file posted onto WebCT with the graded original and graded checklist turned back in to Dr. Sarah. Paper references must be turned back in too (or you lose credit).
