Six Simple Machines Investigation Project By: Amelie/5A

Six Simple Machines Simple machines helps our lives easier .It helps us to do work .it is not complicated machines that people used like in factories but in fact just simple ones. There are 6 types of simple machines: Wheel & Axle Pulley Inclined Plane Lever Screw Wedge

Wheel & Axle/ Gear A wheel with a rod, called an axle, through its center lifts or moves loads.

Trolley Bag Trolley Bag: The trolley bag is an example of a simple machine. One of the properties of the trolley bag is Wheel & Axle. The simple machine wheel is only applied in the bottom of this trolley bag. Function: The function of having the wheel is that so the bag can move easily without having to carry it.

Bicycle Bicycle : The bicycle is also a simple machine . this time it’s a combination between gears and wheel. Gear is a friend of the wheel it actually helps the wheel to turn around. The gear is connected to the wheels. Function: The function of having the wheel and gear is that so the bicycle can move.

Car Car: The car has a component which includes the wheel. this time in we cannot see the gears because it’s inside the car. the car has wheels for supporting only. Function: The wheels in the car helps the car move faster and if there is no wheel it will not move.

Pulley A pulley is a simple machine that uses grooved wheels and a rope to raise, lower or move a load.

Vertical Blind Vertical Blind: The blind is a simple machine that include the pulley. actually there are several types of blinds but his one is a curtain that is pull down and up. Function: The function of the pulley is that so it can open .

Dispensable Tape Dispensable Tape: The tape is one of a simple machines. in has a property where it uses pulley. so if we pull it it’s pulley. it has pulley in the tape. It is actually also involved in wedge but it’s more pulley. Function: The function of the pulley here is so that we can pull the tape.

Inclined Plane An inclined plane is a ramp that reduces the force to overcome the force of gravity when changing the elevation of mass in a gravitational field .by changing the angle of the ramp someone can usefully varied the force necessarily to raise/lowered the load.

Stairs Stairs: The stairs has the property of inclined plane. It has a shape which make us not tired to up because the farther the distance less force will be used. Function: The function of the inclined plane is if we don’t’ used the way but instead we use straight way we cannot stand the gravity so we use incline plane.

Slide Slide: The slide has an incline plane . it has a brilliant way to use incline plane. Function: The function is that if we don’t use incline plane and the slide will be straight it will hard to ride it and the gravity.

Lever Lever is a bar which rest on a fulcrum . The support on which a lever turns/is helped in moving something.

Light Switch Light Switch: The light switch has a property called lever because it has 2 sides so if we press it means it’s the effort Function: Used to balance between effort and load.

Suit Cases Suit Case: The suit case is a part of lever. it has a fulcrum ,load and effort. Function : The function is that it helps to open and close the suitcase.

Screw A screw is an inclined plane wrapped around a pole which holds things together or lifts materials.

Water Bottle Water Bottle: Water bottle has a screw it is in the part of the lid. some bottle has screw in it but some don’t. the part of the lid is the part of the screw. Function: The function of the screw in the lid is that the lid can securely close well.

Mechanical Pencil Mechanical Pencil: The pencil is not actually a screw but if we open the inside of it. there is screw’s in it. Function: The function is used to hold on the little parts of the mechanical pencil.

Wedge A wedge is an object with at least one slanting side ending in a sharp edge, which cuts material apart.

Knife Knife: The knife has a property of wedge. wedge is used to cut something. The sharper it is the better and easier it will be. Function: The function is used to cut something. wedge usually has a small angle.

Door Stopper Door Stopper: The door stopper has a wedge. Wedge is usually sharp but not always. If it’s not sharp it’s called the wide wedge if it’s sharp it’s called small wedge. Function: The function is used to stop the door to close using it’s sharp tip in the edge.
