You will sit the exam in January 2017. BRIDGING PROJECT Health & Social Care Level 3 BTEC Extended Certificate (equivalent to 1 A Level) YEAR 11 INTO 12 SUMMER 2016 TASK 1: WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT? TASK 2: TO WHAT EXTENT IS THERE A COMMON LIVED AND PHYISCAL EXPERIENCE OF THE FEMALE PERIMENOPAUSE (early- middle adulthood) AND THE MENOPAUSE (middle adulthood)?

What is the difference between growth and development? TASK 1 YOU NEED THE STUDY PACK HANDED OUT ON INDUCTION DAY TO COMPLETE THIS TASK What is the difference between growth and development? You are aiming to: Understand and be able to explain the difference between growth and development Know, understand and be able to explain the main features of growth AND development in all life stages

TASK 1 – WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT? Highlight & annotate the articles provided on induction day. Refer to the modelled example (pictures) for guidance on the approach & detail expected Create a table, with bullet pointed but detailed information showing the features of growth & development in all life stages Plan the essay ‘What is the difference between growth & development?’ Write the essay ‘What is the difference between growth and development? Explain your answer with reference to all the life stages’ On the first day back in September, you should have the following with you: Your annotated articles (to show evidence that you have read & understood the content) Your table, with bullet pointed but detailed information about the features of growth and development in all life stages. Your essay plan (a full plan please) Your essay. Typed or handwritten. At least two sides of A4, size 12 font or equivalent if hand written. Email for help if needed: roisincosgrove@highfield.herts.sch.uk Allow at least two weeks over the summer holidays to get a reply. Do not leave it too late! 

TASK 2 To what extent is there a common physical and lived experience of the perimenopause and the menopause? You are aiming to: Understand & be able to explain the causes of the menopause in women, including the role of hormones Be able to describe the common physical symptoms of the perimenopause and be able to discuss the extent to which these vary between women Be able to discuss the variety of lived experiences (emotional development) during the perimenopause

TASK 2 – TO WHAT EXTENT IS THERE A COMMON LIVED AND PHYSICAL EXPERIENCE OF THE MENOPAUSE? Make notes on the following: What is the menopause? What causes the menopause? What is the difference between the perimenopause and the menopause? What are the physical indicators / symptoms of the perimenopause? How widely can women’s physical experience of the perimenopause vary? Why? – Ensure you include specific examples in your notes. The variety of emotional or lived experiences of the perimenopause 2. Plan an essay (a full detailed plan please) on the question ‘To what extent is there a common physical and lived experience of menopause and perimenopause?’. You do not need to write the essay, just complete a plan (we will use this in lessons in September.) On the first day back in September, you should have comprehensive note on all of these questions as well as your essay plan
